丹麦奥尔胡斯大学招聘热力学模型博士后

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral position at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, the Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University, focusing on thermodynamic modelling of Portland cement blends including new supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). The position is available from the Summer/fall 2011 for a period one-year with the opportunity for an extension for another year, depending on the progress in the project.

The project is a part of SCM – Manufacturing of highly reactive supplementary cementitious materials for low-CO2 cement which is a joint collaboration between FLSmidth A/S, Aalborg Portland A/S, Interdisiplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) Aarhus University and the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, partly funded by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation. The overall vision of the project is to develop new hydraulic active (pozzolanic) materials (SCM’s) based on naturally occurring minerals that can partly replace Portland clinkers in blends, thereby contributing to a low embodied energy consumption and a substantial reduction in CO2 emission associated with cement and concrete.

The Post doctoral project will focus on the theoretical part in predicting pozzolanic activity of SCMs and modelling the hydrate phase assemblages for mixtures of Portland cement, SCM, water, and admixtures. The principal approach in this part of the project is thermodynamic modelling and it will be performed in collaboration with the partners of the project that have expertises in this field and with two PhD students associated to SCM project.

The successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree in inorganic chemistry, materials science, or geology and a solid background in cement chemistry or silicate mineralogy. Moreover, it is a prerequisite that the candidate has a documented expertise in thermodynamics and modelling approaches in this field.

The application should include a CV, a description of scientific accomplishments including thermo-dynamics, a list of publications, and names and e-mail addresses of senior scientists who can provide a letter of reference.

For more information please contact Associate Professor Jørgen Skibsted (iNANO and Department of Chemistry, phone: +45 8942 3900, e-mail: jskib@chem.au.dk) and SCM project leader Niels Christian Lundgaard (FLSmidth A/S, phone: +45 3093 3514, e-mail: ncl@flsmidth.com).
