遥感地球所于2012年在中国科学院遥感应用研究所和对地观测与数字地球科学中心的基础上组建成立。作为国内本领域规模最大的研究机构,遥感地球所承载了中国遥感事业30余年的发展历程,汇聚了一批优秀的专业科技人才,已成为国家在该领域的一支不可或缺的战略力量。
目前,遥感地球所整合了从遥感科学研究到全方位领域应用示范,从对地观测技术开拓到数字地球科学发展的资源优势;拥有天空地一体化遥感数据获取与处理能力,遥感与空间地球信息科学基础研究能力,数字地球科学平台与全球环境资源信息分析能力和学科齐全的专业队伍与国际科技合作能力等4大核心竞争力。未来,遥感地球所将致力于在相关领域做出更大创新性贡献。

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) invites applications for the position of Director-General of the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI).
I. About RADI
Established in 2012 by consolidating the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications and the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth, RADI boasts China’s largest research center and indispensable strategic research force in the field thanks to 30 years of remote sensing development in the country and a galaxy of outstanding professionals.
RADI enjoys superior resources in a variety of aspects, ranging from remote sensing research to its comprehensive application and demonstration and from Earth observation technology studies to Digital Earth science development. It is recognized for its four core competencies: the capacity to receive and process spaceborne-airborne-ground remote sensing data; the capacity to conduct basic research into remote sensing and geo-spatial information, including a Digital Earth science platform; the capacity to analyze global environmental and resource information and a research team with a complete spectrum of academic disciplines; and the capacity to perform international cooperation. It is expected to make even greater innovative contributions to the field in the future.
II. Eligibility
1. Applicants are expected to have the confidence and determination to promote the development of RADI and achieve its objectives in light of the guiding principles of CAS in the coming years.
2. They should be a leader of integrity, democratic in their style of work, and open to different views.
3. They should have remarkable capacity for strategic thinking, macroscopic decision-making and overall control with an emancipated mind, a spirit of pioneering, innovation and enterprise, and a sense of responsibility.
4. They must have a doctoral degree and professorship or equivalent in a world-class university or research institution with a globally recognized record of academic accomplishment in the areas of remote sensing or Digital Earth.
5. Their research interest should be in line with the major academic directions of RADI and they must have more than 10 years of experience in leading scientific research projects and managing S&T teams.
III. Application Materials
2. Eligible candidates will be interviewed in Beijing (the exact date will be announced later).
During the interview, applicants are expected to submit a 3,000-word written report and deliver a 50-minute oral presentation, providing:
An overview of your experience and information about your major academic achievements.
Your understanding of the positioning, philosophy, S&T layout, and strategy for the development of RADI in light of CAS planning and initiatives.
Your advantages and shortcomings.
