Theme: Mechanisms of Intracellular Parasitism
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work in the field of bacterial pathogenomics. The research aims at understanding the complex pathogen-eukaryotic host cell interaction mechanisms underlying intracellular survival and proliferation of the facultative intracellular parasite Listeria monocytogenes.
The post
Tenable for 1 year in a first instance with possible extension for 1 or 2 more years depending on performance. Internationally competitive host group with long-standing experience in the subject. Multidisciplinary project offering opportunities for interaction with an international consortium of laboratories. Post based in Madrid but will involve prolonged periods at the Institute of Immunology, Infection and Evolution, University of Edinburgh. Annual salary in the region of €30,000 (plus complement while in UK).
The candidate
Degree in a biomedical science or biology and research experience relevant to the post (molecular microbiology, cell biology, infectious diseases) at PhD level or equivalent. Vocational approach to science and motivation to pursue a research career. You must be an enthusiastic and hard-working individual with initiative, interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to communicate in English, both oral and written, and relevant IT knowledge is essential. Experience in genomics and bioinformatics would be an advantage.
