A post-doctoral position will be open for 18 months from March 1st 2008 at the Institut Charles Sadron in Strasbourg, France, in the “polyelectrolyte multilayer” group in collaboration with G. Decher and P. Schaaf.
The multidisciplinary project (funded by ANR) consists in the development of new polymer multilayer films built up by covalent interaction, especially by click chemistry. The ultimate goal of these thin films is their application in the biomedical field.
We are seeking a committed post-doctoral chemist to synthesize the functional polymers to be used to construct these films. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a group with a world expertise in the layer-by-layer technique, in a new laboratory, equipped with all the technical facilities to synthesize and characterize polymers and to study surface modification. The post-doctoral fellow will collaborate with physico-chemists and biologists,; therefore good communication skills are required. The net salary is about € 22000 per year.
The applicants must hold a Ph. D. in organic synthesis or preferably in polymer chemistry and must be autonomous and motivated. Experience in organic synthesis and characterization, and standard analytical techniques is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage but not essential.
