Dear participants,

On behalf of the organization committee, I wish to extend my cordial invitation to welcome you to our 2008 event in Kunming, China. The primary focus for this year’s symposium is to foster an environment for the exchange of ideas between academic and industry on primate biology, animal models, animal welfare and regenerative medicine. We have secured an impressive list of speakers to make this goal a success.

Main topics include 1) Animal welfare and ethics 2) Non-Human Primate model for neuroscience and mental disorders, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases 3) Stem cells and regenerative medicine 4) Introduction to Kunming Biomed International, a preclinical primate CRO.

Kunming is located in Yunnan Province, which boasts abundant and diversified animal resource. This includes nearly 22 primate species, of which 15 species can be found within the nearby mountains surrounding Kunming. These mountains form the eastern front of the Tibetan mountain range; a day’s drive out.

Participants will be invited to visit both KPRC and KBI facilities. Additionally, a three day excursion to Lijiang will take place after the symposium for interested guests; to visit the ancient city of Dayan with over 800 year cultural history surrounded by majestic natural scenic.

Kunming has plenty of fine hotels and is famous for its many fine restaurants which will suit your needs. Please visit www.kprc.ac.cn  for recommendations.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the conference in Kunming.

Sincerely yours,

Weizhi Ji, Ph.D.
