The position involves fundamental research in the general area of controlled immobilization of polymers, and analysis of generated surface layers with a variety of surface characterization techniques. Current research focuses on friction and force analysis of polymeric thin films, conformation analysis of polymers both in air and under fluidic conditions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with synthetic and materials chemists at Portland State as well as other leading research universities.
Candidates should have the following qualifications: Ph.D. degree in chemistry or polymers Expertise in polymer physics, especially conformation in solution and on solid Experience in AFM force, friction measurements Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vita, a statement including research summary and research interests, a list of three references including complete contact information to Professor Mingdi Yan, Department of Chemistry, Portland State University, Portland, OR97201, yanm@pdx.edu.
