Postdoctoral Position In Axon Guidance And Growth Cone Signalling
MRC Centre For Developmental Neurobiology

A three year postdoctoral research post, funded by the Wellcome Trust, is available in the laboratory of Dr Britta Eickholt at the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology. The project will study the temporal and spatial regulation of PI3K/PTEN signalling in neuronal growth cones, which will involve establishing dissociated hippocampal cultures from mice, and the expression and imaging of fluorophore-tagged proteins by confocal time-lapse microscopy. In addition, the project entails the biochemical characterization of signaling events in primary neurons.

Successful candidates will join a friendly, dynamic and well-funded group located in the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and collaborate with the Centre for Ultrastructural Imaging, both of which are located at the Guy’s Campus of King’s College London.

Applicants should have a strong background in live-cell imaging, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. Whilst a background in Neuroscience is desirable, this is not essential.

This position is available on a 3 year fixed term contract.

Salary will be offered on the RA1A salary scale ranging from £21,477 to £27,393 plus
£2,323 London allowance
