The RNA Genomics and Bioinformatics Lab of the University of Iowa (http://www.medicine.uiowa.edu/Labs/Xing/) is seeking candidates for two postdoctoral research fellow positions to work on genomic analyses of pre-mRNA splicing and microRNA. The long-term objective of our research is to understand the role of post-transcriptional gene regulation (e.g. splicing and microRNAs) in normal and diseased human brains. We are using state-of-the-art genomic technologies for global profiling of mammalian transcriptomes. The postdoctoral fellows will develop statistical and computational methods for analyses and integration of large-scale, multi-species genomic data from diverse biological and clinical samples, including next-generation exon microarray and ultra-deep sequencing data. He/she will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally recognized biomedical scientists at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in the investigation of human neurological diseases.
The applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics or closely related fields. Strong ability in computer programming (perl/python, C/C++, R) is essential. An established track record in genome sequence analysis or microarray analysis is a significant plus.
