A postdoctoral fellow is being sought to investigate the molecular pathogenesis of diabetes and obesity in the University of California, San Diego (Department of Medicine, Endocrine Division).
We have identified a Golgi-associated molecular scaffold that regulates the subcellular localization of the glucose transporter GLUT4 in cultured adipocytes (PMID 17059388 & 10988299). To validate this molecular scaffold’s functions in glucose homeostasis and energy metabolism, we have recently established a mouse knockout model and are characterizing the metabolic phenotypes using physiology, cell biology and biochemical approaches.
We are looking for candidates with a PhD degree, substantial expertise with mouse physiology, a passion for diabetes research, and prior first-author publication(s). An ideal candidate will also have some experience with cell biology and are available for a personal interview.
