Postdoctoral Research Officer – Mouse Developmental genetics/ Stem cells (3 year fixed-term position) University Grade 7, Salary: starting salary £27,466 Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral research scientist to join Dr V Subramanian’s laboratory in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry, University of Bath. The project funded by Medical Research Council focuses on dissecting the role and mechanism of action of Polycomb genes in adult stem cells using a multidisciplinary approach that combines mouse genetics, molecular biology, cell and developmental biology techniques. The project involves the characterization of mouse models (knockout), in vivo and in vitro analysis of proliferation, apoptosis and differentiation. The position provides collaborative opportunities with collaborators in Oxford.
You will have, or expect to soon complete a PhD in Molecular Biology/ Developmental Genetics with a strong background in using higher vertebrate model systems and tissue culture. Experience in a broad range of developmental biology, molecular and cell biology techniques (qPCR, tissue grafting, confocal microscopy microarrays etc) is highly desirable. Successful candidates should have demonstrated creativity, technical independence and excellent communication skills. The Department of Biology and Biochemistry is a research active department and provides excellent training for researchers in a multi-disciplinary environment and is equipped with state of the art facilities.
