澳大利亚悉尼大学招聘博士后
The University of Sydney’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences is a large and extremely research-active academic School. One of our research areas is Proteomics.

Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Fellow positions in Proteomics. The positions are funded by a Translational Program Grant from the Cancer Institute NSW to groups affiliated with the Sydney Melanoma Unit based at Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals.

The major objectives of the project are to improve the surveillance of people at very high risk of melanoma, to make use of new technologies for classification of melanoma by genomic and proteomic analyses, and to identify new markers and targets that can improve its clinical care. Two-dimensional fluorescence difference gel electrophoresis (DIGE) will be used to identify proteins differentially expressed between primary melanomas relative to normal adjacent skin cells, melanomas of good relative to poor prognosis, and drug-resistant relative to drug-sensitive. Membrane proteins will be identified as potential markers of melanoma using a novel technique of LC-iTRAQ.

The Fellows will join the melanoma research group funded by the CINSW and NHMRC and will use the facilities provided by the Sydney University Proteome Research Unit directed by Prof. Richard Christopherson. Applicants should have a PhD with experience in aspects of Proteomics and Cell Biology, including cell culture and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. Experience with the use of microarrays and analysis of large databases would be useful.

The positions are initially for one year, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Further extensions may be available for up to 3 years subject to review of performance and extension of funding. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $76k – $82k (which includes base salary, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).

For further information please contact Prof. Christopherson on (02) 9351 6031 or email ric@mmb.usyd.edu.au The positions are available immediately, but with some flexibility for appointments to commence up to August 2008.
