We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to study the role of learning in visual processing and in visuospatial navigation in awake rodents. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field. Experience with in vivo electrophysiology in rodents and a strong quantitative background, including expertise with Matlab, are highly desirable.
Our young research group focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of visual cognition and learning (http://ppw.kuleuven.be/~odbeeckh/). This research involves human studies with functional magnetic resonance imaging and psychophysics, as well as rodent studies with electrophysiology and psychophysics. We work in close collaboration with other groups in our department, most notably Johan Wagemans (specialized in intermediate vision in humans), Rudi D’Hooge (specialized in behavioral phenotyping of rodents), and Detlef Balschun (specialized in in vitro rodent electrophysiology).
The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified. Start date is negotiable, but we aim for the fall of 2008. The initial contract will be for one year, but funding is available for up to three years.
Please send a statement of research interests, a CV (including list of publications), and contact information for 3 references to: Dr. Hans Op de Beeck, hans.opdebeeck@psy.kuleuven.be. Requests for additional information can be directed to the same address.
