Dr. Warren Leonard’s laboratory, which is located in the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology, NHLBI, NIH, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of molecular immunology. Having discovered in the past that mutations in the common cytokine receptor ? chain, ?c, results in X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency in humans and that ?c is a shared component of multiple cytokine receptors, the laboratory focuses on the cytokines that share ?c (IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21), as well as the IL-7-related cytokine, TSLP. The lab has generated valuable transgenic and knockout mice and a wealth of valuable reagents. The laboratory encompasses projects ranging from biological actions to signal transduction to molecular mechanisms of gene regulation, including epigenetic mechanisms. State-of-the-art methodologies are used in human and murine systems, including in vitro and in vivo approaches. The researcher, with guidance, is expected to develop his/her own projects and to extensively collaborate with other researchers in the lab.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both immunology and molecular biology. The candidate must have received a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. The candidate will be supported with the excellent intramural NIH fellowship in a stimulating and interactive research environment at NIH.
