An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to work at the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology (IRDB) in the Division of Surgery, Oncology, Reproductive Biology and Anaesthetics (SORA) at the Hammersmith Hospital campus, located in East Acton.
 
The successful candidate will work in the Group directed by Dr Nobuaki Kudo. The main research focus of the Group is molecular mechanism of chromosome cohesion and segregation in mammalian germ cell development, particularly in meiotic division of oocytes and spermatocytes (Kudo NR et al. Cell. 2006. 126: 135). For information about the Group visit. You will work on a project that involves characterisation of oocytes from genetically modified (knockout and transgenic) models in the chromosome and the meiotic cell cycle progression aspects.
 
You will hold or be about to submit a PhD, DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent in a life science discipline. Proficiency in performing in vitro culture experiments on mammalian oocytes, eggs, zygotes or early embryos using micromanipulation and microinjection is required. Other skills, especially confocal microscopy and time-lapse live microscopy, are desirable.
 
The post is full-time and is available for two years in the first instance.
