Translational Research in Hematopoiesis and Leukemia Therapy

An opportunity is available to study transcription factors and signaling pathways in normal and malignant hematopoiesis in addition to mechanisms of leukemia therapy. Leukemia cell lines, primary hematopoietic cells, and mouse models are studied in the laboratory. Technologies employed in the lab include colony assays, transduction/transplantation, xenograft models and bioluminescence, expression profiling, and nanotechnology. This position is for individuals who have received a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cellular biology, and biochemistry and have 2-3 years of postdoctoral training. Funding through a Developmental Hematology T32 training is available for 2 years (K. Sakamoto, P.I.). This postdoctoral position has the potential to develop into an Assistant Researcher or Adjunct Assistant Professor faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
 
Our laboratory of 10 individuals includes junior faculty (M.D.s), graduate students, undergraduate students, and technicians. Research is funded by the NIH, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, William Lawrence Foundation, and Abbott Laboratories, Inc.
