The newly founded group "Systems Biology of Cell Communication and Cellular Decisions" is offering a postdoctoral position at the ZBSA (http://www.zbsa.uni-freiburg.de/) in the field) of cell biology.
The research focus of the group is the development and verification of dynamic multi-scale computer- and cell culture-models to predict and control cellular decisions like proliferation, differentiation or apoptosis. Models in vitro and in silico incorporate biological mechanisms spanning different time- and length scales from protein signaling to multi-cell communication and tissue/tumor development. Applications will range from wound healing, cell aging or tumor-stroma interactions.
The ZBSA, the Center for Biological Systems Analysis in the heart of Freiburg is a recently opened institute for Systems Biology at the University of Freiburg. It is home to young, international research groups, combining experimental research in life-science with mathematical modeling and simulation under a single roof.
Freiburg is a historic city next to the Black forest, beautifully located close to France and Switzerland. Freiburg is famous for its cultural life and the wide variety of recreational offerings.
Qualification
We seek motivated individuals with a scientific background in cell biology and an interest in crossing research fields to establish new experimental approaches. Experience in cultivating primary cells, the adaptation of molecular and cell biology methods are essential.
Knowledge in the isolation of RNA/DNA and proteins as well as methods for their quantification are ideal.
Experience in cloning, transfection, siRNA and quantitative PCR would be desirable.
