‘Peroxiredoxins – Role in Aging, Protein Quality Control and Genome Stability

A post-doctoral position is currently available at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) at the Lundberg Laboratory, University of Gothenburg. The position, financed from the Swedish Cancer Fund, is for two years.
The successful candidate will mainly study budding yeast to decipher how homeostatic control of reactive oxygen species by peroxiredoxins mechanistically protect aging cells from chromosomal rearrangements and proteotoxicity. For optimal progression, the project should be carried out as a combination of several experimental techniques, e.g. genetic interaction studies, microscopy, and protein biochemistry. Practical experience with yeast molecular genetics is a requirement. Experience from synthetic genetic interaction analysis, protein biochemistry, and light microscopy is considered an advantage.
