西班牙马德里自治大学招聘博士和博士后

Two PhD students and postdoctoral positions are available for highly motivated and talented young researchers in the Scanning Probe Microscopy Theory & Nanomechanics Group at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain).

The work involves the continuation of our research program in the area of ab-initio modelling of atomic-resolution AFM (see references below) and its extension to study technologically relevant oxide surfaces and organic overlayers, and to characterize energy dissipation mechanisms at the atomic scale. The positions are supported by different projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICIIN), the European Science Foundation (ESF) and the US National Science Foundation. They involve strong collaboration with experimental groups in Europe, Japan and the USA.

The group is part of the Department of Condensed Matter Theory. The department offers, in collaboration with other experimental departments, a strong Graduate Program in Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology, with a national mention of excellence. The campus of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid hosts several institutes of the Spanish Research Council (Materials Science, Catalysis, Biotechnology) and national experimental facilities, providing an excellent research and training environment in Condensed Matter Physics.

Applicants should have a degree/master or PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related area, and are expected to be familiar with atomistic modelling and/or electronic structure calculations.

The positions are available for immediate incorporation and are renewable for up to 3 years.

Interested candidates are invited to submit by e-mail a letter of interest, an updated CV (including a list of publications) and 2 letters of reference to Prof. Ruben Perez (ruben.perez(AT)uam.es)
