Individual sequence variation plays a significant role in susceptibility to a wide range of conditions. Technologies now exist to allow us to look in detail at this variation and the role it plays in human health. In particular we are engaged in large scale efforts to understand the role of sequence variation in determining susceptibility to cognitive disorders. We are also engaged in efforts to understand the role that sequence variation and mutation play in several types of cancers.

 

Postdoctoral researchers are sought for various components of these programs.

 

POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS:

 

(1) Analysis of Genetic Variation in Large, (for instance thousands of genes or very large genomic regions) Targeted Areas of the Genome to Study:? Cognitive Disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression ? Cancer in humans & mouse model systems

 

(2) Analysis of Total Genome Variation to Study:? The complete genome sequence of individuals at risk for cognitive disorders ? Variation in the cancer genome and the changes it undergoes during disease progression in humans and mice.

 

This position requires a Ph.D in a realted field and background in one or more of the following areas; Bioinformatics, mathematics (particularly statistics), population genetics or molecular biology//biochemistry
