The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology, has an opportunity available for a Postdoctoral Associate, located at our Medical School. This laboratory is under the mentorship of Dr. Vladlen Slepak. The individual will conduct research in the field of signal transduction and neuroscience. This lab uses a wide range of experimental approaches to study signal transduction at the molecular, cellular and whole animal (transgenic mice) levels. Perform experiments. Specific areas of research are: (1) Mechanism and physiological role of subcellular localization of signaling proteins in photoreceptor neurons (e.g., Nair et al, Neuron 2005) and (2) The role of Gbeta5-RGS7 complex (e.g., Narayanan et al, Biochemistry, 2007; Sandiford Slepak, Biochemistry, 2009) in neurotransmitter release, animal behavior and metabolism (obesity/diabetes).

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D or MD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cell Biology or related disciplines. Must have experience in protein biochemistry, molecular cloning, cell culture, microscopy and biophysical methods. Specific area of expertise and training are not as important as creativity, flexibility and ability to independently design and perform experiments. One paper published in a respected peer-reviewed journal preferred but not required. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
