Subject: Postdoctoral Positions at Yale University are open to study the role of the wound epidermis during limb regeneration in the Mexican axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum).

Our lab is interested in the genetic (mRNA, microRNA) regulation of urodele amphibian regeneration. In particular, we focus on the formation of the Apical Epidermal Cap (AEC) or Wound Epidermis that forms in the first few days after limb amputation in the axolotl. Many studies have shown that the AEC plays an important role in the formation of the underlying mass of undedifferentiated blastema cells, however, little is known about the steps leading to AEC formation. This research project will encompass the development of cell culture-based assays and animal models to investigate key signaling proteins implicated in AEC formation and subsequent mesenchymal cell dedifferentiation.

Requirements: Doctoral degree (Ph.D.). Candidates should have a strong background in either developmental biology or cell biology (preferably in keratinocyte biology) and at least one first author publication in a major journal in developmental biology, cell biology, or molecular biology.
