美国西北大学材料科学与工程系招聘博士后

A postdoctoral research associate position is immediately available at Northwestern University, Department of Materials Science & Engineering, affiliated with the NUANCE center and the International Institute for Nanotechnology, in the broad area of “Scanning Probe Microscopy Development”.

This project is being supervised by Prof. Vinayak P. Dravid and concerns with creating a viable sub-surface imaging nano-metrology toolset for both life and physical science using scanning probe microscopy platform. This is a part of extensive cross-disciplinary and collaborative activities in nanotechnology at Northwestern. As a result, the candidate would have ample opportunity to learn diverse aspects of nano-metrology tool development and their application in nanotechnology.

The NUANCE center’s NanoScale Integrated Testing and Instrumentation Center (NIFTI) is well equipped with several modern SPM’s, DPN, NSOM, Triboindenter and other characterization systems.

Candidates must have a PhD in applied sciences or engineering. Applicants with proven track record and established experience in the area of Scanning Probe Microscopy and related fields are invited to apply. The position requires extensive expertise and hands-on experience in the design, simulation and operation of SPM instrumentation, and a background in acoustic systems is highly desirable.

The position is available immediately for at least two years, with a possibility for extension for additional year upon mutual agreement. Salary and compensation would commensurate with experience. Given the extensive industrial interactions in this project, there are several career opportunities for professional growth following the postdoctoral experience.

Please send a detailed CV including bibliography, a statement of career interest, and contact information for three references. Submit the application package (PDF format) to Dr. Gajendra Shekhawat at the email address: g-shekhawat@northwestern.edu.
