Two postdoctoral positions are available to study the neurophysiology of olfactory and auditory perception in Drosophila with Professor Mala Murthy. Candidates should be available to begin their appointment by March 2010. Talented applicants from any research background will be considered, with a preference for demonstrated research expertise in the following areas:

 

1) Electrophysiology – experience with electrophysiological techniques (in any model system) and computational analysis methods.

 

2) Drosophila neurobiology – experience using genetic and molecular tools in Drosophila to study the nervous system, preferably with some experience performing behavioral assays.

 

The successful candidates will be encouraged to pursue their own research interests independently within the framework of the lab’s overarching research themes. They will have the opportunity to work closely with Professor Murthy in the laboratory, and in the design of research projects. The department of Molecular Biology and the Neuroscience Institute at Princeton comprise a number of excellent labs and colleagues, including those with expertise in Drosophila genetics, the study of neural circuits, and computational neuroscience. There will be ample opportunity for collaboration. Successful candidates will be encouraged to apply for external funding.
