The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney is the largest and most comprehensive grouping of health care professions, researchers and teachers in Australia. It is committed to research and teaching in an interdisciplinary context.
 
The Faculty is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to assist with research projects under the leadership of Professor Patrick Brennan. The focus of Professor Brennan’s current research within diagnostic radiography is around medical image optimisation and developing novel technologies and techniques that enhance the detection of clinical indicators of disease.
 
You will assist Professor Brennan with grant submissions, data collection and analysis, image analysis, presentations and publications, and general coordination of his current projects. The role will also see you developing your own independent research that is aligned with the interests of the research team.
 
You will bring to the role strong research project coordination skills and experience, preferably within image optimisation, and an ability to support and drive various research projects. You will have skills in independent research, including literature reviews and grant submissions, and have good academic writing and reporting experience. Excellent organisational ability is essential as are outstanding communication and presentation skills and an ability to work within a collaborative, cross disciplinary research environment.
 
A PhD in an area relevant to diagnostic radiography and image optimisation is essential as are skills in image analysis and radiation dose symmetry, data collection and analysis, and an ability to foster cross disciplinary research networks. Ideally you will also have a publication record suitable to an early career researcher.
 
This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your own research networks and projects relevant to the group’s interests whilst being supported by some of the leading researchers within the field. You will also be given the opportunity to mentor junior staff, co-supervise post-graduate students and take on some limited teaching duties.
 
This is a rare opportunity to develop your research profile whilst under the guidance of world renowned experts in medical imaging optimisation.
 
The position is full-time, fixed term for two years subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
 
Remuneration package: $63 164 – $85 717 (which includes a base salary Level A $53 375 – $72 432 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
