The Chemical Microbiology group at Penn State is hiring a postdoctoral scientist to test new antibiotic targets. The goal of the project is to identify cyclic peptide inhibitors of three pathways required for virulence or viability in bacterial pathogens, and evaluate their efficacy as antibiotics. The Chemical Microbiology group includes the laboratories of Sarah Ades, Stephen Benkovic, Squire Booker, and Ken Keiler, and the postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work closely with each laboratory. Experience with microbial genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry is preferred. This position is funded by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Penn State University.
