The Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Medical Campus, has an opportunity available for a Postdoctoral Associate. The laboratory is under the direction of Dr. Joy Lincoln. Our lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanism of heart development and adult disease using in vitro and in vivo assays Research activities in our lab include PCR, gene cloning, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, tissue culture (transfections, primary cellculture),coimmunoprecipitation, and the use of animal model systems for in vivo studies. Candidates will be required to design; conduct and trouble shoot experiments to determine molecular and cellular mechanisms of heart development and adult disease using in vitro and in vivo assays. Preferably, applicants will have knowledge of gene cloning, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, tissue culture, embryology and co-immunoprecipitation techniques.

 

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D or M.D.in a relevant discipline and have a good communication and organization skills. Experience with breeding, maintaining and genotyping mouse lines would also be advantageous, but not essential. Successful candidates will be strongly encouraged to write scientific papers for publication as well as grants for fellowship awards. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
